I recently purchased a used 2008 Ford Ranger from Braun. A few days after purchase I took it to a Ford dealer to identify some engine noise that had gotten worse the more I drove the truck. The dealership diagnosed the engine to have a serious internal knock, believed to be rod knock. They informed me that the engine would have to be entirely torn apart and rebuilt or just replaced with a new engine. I was understandably frustrated considering I had only had the truck for a few days. I reached out to Mike Skinner at Braun who sold me the truck to see if they would help me repair the vehicle I had just purchased from them. He was quick to respond when I was in the process of purchasing the truck but he never responded when I reached out to him about the serious problem the truck had. After a few calls I was able to speak to Thad who insisted they did not know the engine had an issue but said he would get back in touch with me about my request to help replace the engine. I never heard back. Everytime I called I was given an excuse that Thad or Mike were unavailable. I left Thad multiple voice messages after our initial conversation and he did not return my calls. I took comfort in buying a used car from a larger car dealership because I thought they would be reputable enough to not sell me a car with any major problems. After all, they say right on their site “We will NOT sell a car that we would not put our mothers or our children in.”. Would you put them in the 08 Ranger you sold me? I find it highly unlikely that they were unaware of the issue with the truck's engine but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if they were willing to make it right and split the cost to repair the vehicle. I even offered to to the work myself if they would just help me pay for a used engine. Needless to say I couldn’t be more disappointed with my experience and the way Braun has ignored a customer. I would avoid used car purchases from this dealer. There are many others out there who will not sell you a lemon, or will at least make it right if they do.
